And I can't wait for it to be over.
I only had two classes today and one of which I really liked, Child Psychology. The professor basically proclaimed, "No Test/Exams, only small quizzes!"...needless to say this man knows how to teach and knows that his students will suffer if he kills them with work....unlike others that show no mercy.
Now the other class, CHEM 110, i'm not sure about yet. It's general chemistry and I usually can grasp things (even if it takes me a longer time), but I know with the class being 300+ people, I'm sure to struggle at the get go. I don't like it when teachers essentially leave you to your OWN devices to learn concepts OR don't really explain throughly enough for the student to at LEAST get a watered-down idea of exactly HOW to do something...and I have a feeling she's only of "those" professors. We've all had them. It's inevitable.
Further justifying my assessment of how she teaches, she uses a program called ALEKS. It's a tutoring program with AI that gears your strengths and weaknesses and puts you at a level where it's easier for you to progress in a positive way.
Now how do you think I did on that initial gauge?
Horrible.
It has me re-learning ALL the concepts of EVERYTHING. From polynomials to even how to calculate density. Out of 100 topics, it proclaimed that I am proficient in 13 of 100 different things. C'mon.....REALLY?! If you were to re-teach all the professional workers, I know majority wouldn't know the basics of things, especially if it doesn't pertain to their specific field. (My mom holds a Master's in the Science of Nursing, and has said she can barely remember chemistry.)
Add insult to injury, I think this whole thing needs to be done by Friday. I know I can't be the only student out of at least 600+ on this campus that's confused.
Ugh. First day of the semester and I'm already feeling lower than dog shit. Thanks Life.
